My Approach to Therapy
Sometimes the thoughts, emotions, and reactions we struggle with make more sense than we realize. Together, we’ll explore your experiences and uncover the patterns, beliefs, and relationship dynamics that may be influencing your life today. I work with individuals and couples both in person from my Norwood, Massachusetts office and through virtual therapy sessions available throughout Massachusetts.
Many clients come to me after years of trying to “fix” the same problem, only to discover that the real issue lies deeper than they realized. What looks like anxiety, conflict, self-doubt, or feeling stuck on the surface is often connected to experiences, beliefs, and patterns that have been operating behind the scenes for years.
Different therapy approaches answer different questions.
Over the years, I’ve found that different therapeutic models offer valuable insights into how we think, feel, relate to others, and make sense of our experiences. Each offers a different piece of the puzzle, helping us make sense of things that may not have made sense before.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) Parts Work
We all have different “parts” within us. Therapy can help us slow down enough to hear these different parts more clearly, giving each one space and a voice. Together, we work to make sense of why you think, feel, and react the way you do. Especially when you feel stuck, conflicted, or frustrated with yourself.
Relational Life Therapy (RLT)
Most couples aren’t struggling because they don’t love each other. They’re stuck because, when conflict happens, they fall into the same patterns over and over. Relational Life Therapy helps us slow those moments down, understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and create healthier ways of connecting.
STAIR: Self Trust and Integrated Resilience
At the core, my goal is to help clients build self trust. In other words: when life gets hard, can I trust myself to move through it? Lasting change requires both support and stretch.
Tracking Neural Networks
Most people can tell you what’s happening. They can’t always tell you why it’s happening. When something is emotionally important, your body often knows it before your conscious mind does. By following those sensations and responses, we can uncover the deeper beliefs, emotional wounds, and fears operating beneath the surface.
What Working Together Looks Like
Therapy is not about having all the answers before you begin. It’s about creating space to become more curious about yourself, your experiences, and the patterns that may be keeping you stuck.
My role isn’t to tell you what to do. Instead, I’ll ask questions, share observations, and help you recognize patterns you may not see on your own. Together, we’ll work to better understand what’s contributing to your struggles and identify new ways of responding to them.
As we start to understand the patterns behind your thoughts, emotions, and reactions, things that once felt confusing will start to make more sense. Over time, many clients find that they feel more grounded, more connected to themselves, and better able to navigate life’s challenges without feeling overwhelmed by them.
With almost 20 years of experience as a therapist, I continue to pursue advanced training, consultation, and professional development to deepen my work and better support my clients. My approach continues to evolve as I learn, grow, and expand the tools and approaches I bring to therapy.
